The United States of America has been thought to be a land of opportunity where immigrants coming from all over the world can pursue their American dream. Most immigrants have contributed to the development of America, creating a diverse society. While on the other hand, the issue of illegal immigrants is a crucial topic. The course will explore the dynamism of American culture and society, focusing on ethnicity and ethnic relationships.

The course attempts to grasp the diversity of American society by reading related articles and through active discussions in the classroom. Students will be able to explain the structure of current American culture and society. In addition, students will be able to give an effective presentation in English.

This course is held in the classroom. Classes will basically be held in English and will follow the handout. Group discussions will be arranged for further understanding. Students will be instructed to use the WebClass in the first class.

The lecturer gives feedback to students at the beginning of the class.

Each student is encouraged to be prepared by doing assignments and exploring further research. Note that students are required to post a comment on the WebClass before each class is held.
