授業の内容

This course introduces basic concepts of bilingualism. Issues to be covered include bilingual and second language studies, such as bilingual individuals (adult and children) and how they acquire or maintain two or more languages in various settings. Instructed in English, this course is designed for the following students: international students, upper-intermediate and advanced level students who wish to study abroad, or who have returned from their study-abroad experience.

*First-year students will have a brief interview in English during the first class.

Students are expected to understand and apply concepts of bilingualism in a variety of contexts.

授業の方法

Students are expected to engage in activities, such as discussions and group work. Reading the assigned chapters in advance and preparing weekly journal entries are essential, as the lectures are based on the course material.The syllabus is subject to change, contingent upon availability of guest speakers (bilingual professional and/or bilingual Seijo student).
