Intercultural Encounters

This course explores issues of culture, and how culture informs how we communicate with one another. The course is aimed at international students and students who have studied abroad, as well as students who wish to study abroad. As the course will be taught in English, students should have a high-intermediate level of English.

By the end of the course, students should have a better understanding of what culture is, and how culture can influence the way in which we communicate. Students should also be able to give a short presentation about aspects of their own culture in English.

All classes will include opportunities for students to discuss and share information with one another. Students will also have 2 opportunities during the course to give presentations about aspects of culture and communication. Active participation in classes is encouraged. Students will watch a film during one class and prepare a written film review.

Students will be provided oral feedback from the professor during the class discussions. In addition, written feedback on students' film reviews will be provided.

Students will need to prepare presentations 2 times during the course. Students are also expected to write a film review of a film shown during the class.

1回の授業につき予習・復習あわせて最低4時間の学修が必要となります。
「授業時間外の学修（予習・復習等）」に明記されている想定学修時間の合計が4時間を上回っている場合は、その学修時間を必要とします。
