The purpose of this course is to develop conversational Japanese skills that enable students to effectively communicate their intentions and thoughts, while building and maintaining positive relationships within Japanese society.

・Students will be able to communicate their thoughts using Japanese in a situationally appropriate manner.
・Students will be able to establish and maintain good relationships with others through conversation in Japanese.

This course consists of learning conversational expressions and strategies, role-playing, discussions, and reflective learning.
Students will first learn phrases and strategies for various conversational situations. They will then work in pairs or groups to role-play scenarios they may encounter. Afterward, students will share their opinions on each other's role-plays and explore ways to improve communication. During discussions, students are encouraged to express their opinions and respect each other's ideas.
This course is primarily taught through exercises and will be held on campus. In the event of an emergency that requires a shift to remote learning, classes will be conducted via Zoom.
All lectures and learning activities will be conducted in Japanese.

The content and schedule may change depending on numbeer of students etc.

Students will receive a comment sheet describing what they did well on the assignment and what they need to improve on.

Instructions will be given in the class on preparation for reading texts and for presentations.

1回の授業につき予習・復習あわせて最低1時間の学修が必要となります。
「授業時間外の学修（予習・復習等）」に明記されている想定学修時間の合計が1時間を上回っている場合は、その学修時間を必要とします。

You cannot receive credit for a course if you are absent more than 5 times. Please note that arriving more than 30 minutes late to a class or leaving a class when there are 30 minutes or more of the class period left will count as an absence. In addition, arriving to class less than 30 minutes late 3 times will count as 1 absence. Similarly leaving class early 3 times (when there are less than 30 minutes of the class left) will count as an absence.

Please bring your textbook. Handouts will be given in class.

Will be introduced as needed.

Students are expected to actively participate in class and engage in meaningful discussions with their classmates to deepen their understanding of the topics.
