副題

授業の内容

This course examines climate change as well as business and human rights from the perspective of international economic law. It also considers how Japan is addressing these challenges. Both climate change and business and human rights are closely related to free trade. Reducing CO₂ emissions requires the promotion of trade in environmentally friendly goods. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that domestic schemes, such as emissions trading systems, do not distort competition. Ensuring human rights throughout global supply chains also raises difficult questions, including how goods suspected of being manufactured under forced labor should be treated. This course focuses on those contemporary issues in terms of both legal theory and politics.

到達目標

This course aims at acquiring basic knowledge of international economic law and enhancing reading and writing skills by going through legal documents.

授業の方法

A worksheet (reading and writing assignment based on legal documents) will be handed out every time at the beginning of the class. Students are required to work on it for 30 minutes, followed by a lecture.
