Japanese (Intermediate) Ⅲ

This course is designed for students who have completed the beginner Japanese course. Students are expected to be able to introduce themselves and others, as well as ask questions about personal information such as where they live, people they know, and possessions they own.
Through the lessons, students will learn Japanese at a level equivalent to CEFR A2 to the first half of B1 while deepening their understanding of Japanese culture. It develops comprehensive Japanese language skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
Students will particularly acquire the ability to communicate in simple Japanese about familiar and interesting topics.

【Goal】
This course aims to develop students’ ability to understand and appropriately use Japanese in daily life and familiar social situations.
By integrating the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students will be able to express their experiences, events, and ideas with simple reasons.
Students will also learn to apply basic grammar and vocabulary to communicate in Japanese while being mindful of their interlocutors and contexts.
In addition, the course encourages students to communicate autonomously in Japanese without fear of making mistakes.

This class is offered as a set with the Monday and Tuesday sessions. You must register for all three.
Classes are lecture-based, primarily using PowerPoint presentations and board writing.

We may change the schedule as needed.

I will provide feedback as needed during class, and I will also give feedback on homework assignments as appropriate.

Please review vocabulary before each class. This will be evaluated as part of your homework. Furthermore, it is extremely important to review kanji on your own after each class. A short quiz including kanji will be administered at the end of each unit, and this will also be reflected in your evaluation. We recommend studying using the following website.

1回の授業につき予習・復習あわせて最低1時間の学修が必要となります。
「授業時間外の学修（予習・復習等）」に明記されている想定学修時間の合計が1時間を上回っている場合は、その学修時間を必要とします。

Exams: Regular exams will be held twice: a midterm exam and a final exam.
Short quizzes on grammar, kanji, and vocabulary will be administered in class after completing each unit.
“Short quizzes” include homework and mini-quizzes.
